Semanovo

Many voices.
A language we build together.

A shared place for people around the world to create, understand, and use a new language. The ambition is a consistent language that connects to people’s native languages and to computer languages, with games that make discovering and building meanings a shared activity.

The central idea

A shared meaning you can open.

A word can carry a complicated idea. Semanovo makes the contents inspectable: who is involved, how they relate, which conditions apply, and what remains unknown. People can build on that definition while keeping its history and contributors attached.

BRING YOUR CONTEXT

Native languages

Words, definitions, experiences, and different cultural readings.

THE SHARED LANGUAGE

Semanovo

Explicit meanings, relationships, examples, and exact versions.

CARRY THE STRUCTURE

Computer systems

Parse, validate, exchange, and interpret supported meanings.

The product’s direction: a common language people can read and software can inspect. Translation accuracy and each software interpretation need their own validation.

How the language grows

Bring an idea. Give it a precise home.

Dictionary, Word Workshop, learning, and translation are ordinary tools in their own right. Anyone can begin a private word without playing a game.

  1. 01 / DISCOVER

    Find the meaning.

Start with a word from an existing language or write a definition. Inspect possible senses, base roots, and community compositions before deciding what needs to be created.

  2. 02 / COMPOSE

    Make the relationships explicit.

Select useful ingredients and connect their participants, conditions, and scope. A new spelling names the meaning; its definition records how the parts fit.

  3. 03 / TEST & SHARE

    Compare interpretations.

Try examples and near misses. Save privately, invite other readings, or publish deliberately. Revisions, sources, and contributor credit travel with the word.

  4. 04 / USE

    Put the word to work.

Add it to a collection, write a sentence, practice a passage, or use selected vocabulary in translation. Saved definitions preserve which version a document means.

Try the underlying idea

What belongs inside a word?

Suppose you want a word for returning something borrowed. The original lender and the same item matter. You might also require care and punctuality. Changing those conditions changes which situations fit.

A MEANING TO NAME

Return the same borrowed item to its original lender, undamaged at handover, by the agreed return time.

Always included: a prior loan · the same item · the original lender.

1 fits · 4 outside · 1 needs more information

  • The complete return

The same borrowed camera goes back to its lender, undamaged and on time.

    Fits

    Every required condition is met.

  • A day late

The same camera goes back to its lender undamaged, after the agreed deadline.

    Outside the definition

This definition requires return by the agreed time.

  • A broken lens

The same camera goes back to its lender on time, with a broken lens.

    Outside the definition

This definition requires an undamaged item at handover.

  • The timing is unstated

The same camera goes back to its lender undamaged. We do not know whether it was on time.

    Need more information

Missing evidence about timing is different from a late return.

  • A new camera as a gift

A new, undamaged camera is given to someone who never lent it.

    Outside the definition

A gift does not satisfy the required prior loan.

  • A different recipient

The same camera is handed to someone other than the lender, undamaged and on time.

    Outside the definition

The item must return to its original lender.

Consistency as the language expands

New words, dependable meanings.

The shared dictionary distinguishes foundational vocabulary, proposed roots, composed meanings, and personal words. Definitions expose their relationships and examples. Publication and review are separate decisions, so a community can experiment while keeping the status of a meaning visible.

Word Workshop preserves immutable revisions and the definitions they depend on. Changing a word creates a new revision; it does not silently rewrite what an older document said. People retain credit when others build on their work.

The public dictionary currently includes a catalog of 3,000 proposed meanings with source-language mappings. Those proposals are a starting inventory for review and construction. They are not 3,000 approved, fully usable roots.

From human expression to software

Readable words.
Inspectable structure.

Semanovo Studio translates in both directions between Semanovo and a chosen human language. The initial multilingual dictionary work draws on English, Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, and Hindi. Source mappings can be incomplete or approximate; general AI translation remains experimental.

The code supplies the next part of the bridge: a language parser, explicit participant roles, validation, versioned vocabulary, and native and JSON exports. Software can work with a defined representation instead of relying only on a loose prose description.

A COMPACT WRITTEN EXAMPLEme lovi Eva.

“I love Eva.” The readable form sits over a structured representation with defined roles and context.

Connection to computer languages is part of the wider ambition. The implemented foundation is machine-readable meaning and interpretation for supported models. General conversion into arbitrary executable programming languages is still a future capability.

Why it is gamified

Give people a reason to discover together.

Play creates situations worth describing. A shared task, a disagreement about an example, or a new relationship gives participants a reason to clarify a meaning and use it again.

EXISTING BROWSER EXPERIENCE

Meaning challenges & relays

Shape a meaning, classify situations, name it, and save a real Workshop word. Cooperative relays let other people offer independent readings and cultural context against the same definition.

IN ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT

A shared 3D world

A separate Unity world brings people into cooperative exploration and team challenges. They encounter places and objects, coordinate activities, and discuss the names that make shared action possible.

Current local work includes multiplayer activities, contextual communication, naming, and language-defined avatars. A complete public multiplayer release remains in development.

Recognize the people who build understanding.

The design includes multiplayer scores, visible leaders, and credit for useful language contributions. Competition results, contributor reputation, and permission to review shared meanings remain distinct. Recognition and scoring have partial implementation; final policies and complete product integration are still being developed.

Why this project belongs here

A common language with room for everyone’s experience.

Semanovo applies a central Sovereign idea to language: people can contribute something of their own while participating in a shared system. Native-language context, differing interpretations, and individual credit remain visible as common definitions take shape.

Its SaaS value is the continuing workspace around that work: discovery, creation, discussion, version history, learning, translation, and play. Every contribution can become something another person understands, tests, or uses.

The project’s proposition is that a language built together can remain consistent when its meanings are open to inspection, its changes are traceable, and its contributors can learn from one another.

Begin with one idea

The next useful meaning could be yours.

Explore a word, bring a definition, or try a challenge. The language tools are available independently of the games. Written language is the current foundation; pronunciation and audio remain separate development work.
